Trademark registration cost in Sweden: 2026 class examples

A transparent 2026 Sweden trademark cost guide with PRV’s electronic class fees, NordicIP’s published filing totals and examples for growing brands.

A Swedish trademark budget starts with the goods and services. PRV charges an electronic application fee for the first class and a further fee for every class added. NordicIP’s published package combines the relevant office fee with preparation, filing and ordinary case management, then adds a fixed disbursement amount.

The one-class price

SEK 4,650 total: SEK 4,100 for NordicIP’s straightforward one-class filing package, including the official application fee, plus SEK 550 disbursements.

PRV’s underlying e-service tariff is SEK 2,700 for one class and SEK 1,000 for each further class where the application uses terms from the pre-approved list. A filing through paper or another service has a higher SEK 3,900 first-class fee. NordicIP chooses and prepares the appropriate route for the instruction.

The published figures apply to a straightforward application. A substantive PRV objection or third-party opposition becomes a separate managed stage: NordicIP explains the issue, recommends the response and agrees the additional work before drafting.

One product can create more than one class

Suppose a foreign company sells connected fitness equipment under a new mark. The apparatus may fall in class 28, its downloadable training application in class 9 and subscription coaching in class 41. That would produce a three-class NordicIP total of SEK 7,250.

Another business may describe itself simply as an “online shop”. The goods sold do not automatically belong to class 35 merely because the company retails them. Retail services and the branded products need to be analysed separately. The exact commercial activity, not a marketing label, determines the class list.

Classification wording can change the PRV fee route

PRV offers the lower electronic first-class fee when goods and services are selected from its pre-approved list. Custom wording moves the official first-class charge to the “paper or other service” level. It can still be appropriate when the approved terms do not describe the business accurately.

NordicIP tests the planned wording against accepted terminology and discusses any trade-off. A small fee saving should not leave the registration misaligned with the product. Conversely, custom drafting adds no value where a clear accepted term already captures the intended scope.

Search before investing in the application

The application fee is for examination and is not refunded simply because an obstacle is found. Sweden’s register also coexists with EU trademarks and international registrations effective in Sweden. A search should therefore cover more than identical Swedish word marks.

NordicIP can scope a clearance review around the signs, classes and markets that matter. We look at visual, aural and conceptual similarity, the relationship between goods and services, and the strength of the earlier mark. The result supports a business decision: file as planned, adjust the scope, or consider a different brand.

Filing date and priority belong in the budget discussion

If the same mark was filed in another country within the relevant six-month period, a Swedish priority claim may preserve the earlier date when the legal requirements are met. Send the first application details at the start; recovering missing information after filing can consume time that a complete instruction avoids.

The proposed owner also needs a deliberate choice. A parent, operating company and local distributor are not interchangeable applicants. NordicIP confirms the legal entity before preparing the application, helping the registration sit with the business that will control, license and enforce the brand.

Choose the Swedish national or EU route deliberately

A Swedish national registration is a focused right examined by PRV. An EUTM covers Sweden and all other EU member states through one EUIPO application. Neither is automatically superior. A business centred on Sweden may value a separate national right; a brand launching across several EU markets may gain efficiency from the EUTM.

NordicIP handles both. Tell us where the brand will trade, what it will sell and whether Norway also matters. We will set out the filing combination and quote each component. Use the contact page for a class assessment and price, or visit our Sweden trademark service.
