The standard renewal window runs for six months before expiry. EUIPO accepts a renewal during the following six months with a 25% surcharge. NordicIP confirms the classes, official fee and representative fee before filing.

Examination & publication.

EUIPO states that standard applications are normally published 8–11 weeks after payment. Publication opens a three-month opposition period; we track the case and report each step in plain English.

STEP 03

Registration & renewal.

Once registered, we docket your ten-year renewal date and handle the EUIPO renewal filing so the mark stays live.

What does an EU trademark (EUTM) cover?

A single EU trademark registration, filed once with the EUIPO, covers all 27 European Union member states — including Denmark, Finland and Sweden — under one right with one renewal date.

Does an EU trademark cover Norway?

An EUTM covers Denmark, Finland and Sweden. NordicIP can add and coordinate a Norwegian national application to complete protection across all four Nordic jurisdictions.

How long does an EU trademark last, and how is it renewed?

An EU trademark is registered for ten years from the filing date and can be renewed indefinitely in further ten-year terms. Online renewal starts at EUR 850 for one class. NordicIP dockets the deadline and manages the EUIPO renewal filing on your behalf.

Who should represent a non-EEA owner before EUIPO?

Owners based outside the European Economic Area appoint an eligible professional representative for EUIPO proceedings. NordicIP is registered with EUIPO and provides representation, official correspondence, deadline control and substantive handling through one instruction.

What is the opposition period for an EU trademark?

Publication opens a three-month opposition period. NordicIP monitors the EUIPO record, reports any opposition and manages the response strategy and proceeding when required.
